There is a big question on many men’s minds: is permanent head hair removal a viable option?
Balding: explanation and root causes
Balding is a condition that entails hair loss or partial thinning.
Balding may be attributed to several causes. Typically, baldness is hereditary, i.e. a genetic predisposition that induces a hypersensitivity to male hormones: androgenetic alopecia.
Balding or androgenetic alopecia typically begins with thinning of the hair at the temples, the front or the top of the head, followed by a receding hairline.
Other causes of hair loss or thinning include:
- Psychological shock or a period of intense psychophysical stress;
- Bad nutrition or a drastic diet;
- Thyroid dysfunction;
- Chemotherapy treatment;
- Scalp infections;
- Use of mechanical or heat styling tools.
Is permanent hair removal an option?
Many men with thinning hair prefer to just shave it all off and go completely bald.
Our customers often ask whether they can undergo permanent hair removal on their head, saving themselves from the tedium of shaving forever; unfortunately, for safety reasons, we have to say no.
The scalp is a very delicate area, and laser hair removal could cause unpleasant burns: the only area on the scalp that we treat is the hairline, where we are able to remove unwanted hair.
People may seek out this treatment to achieve their desired appearance or a more proportionate face, as a higher hairline can make the forehead look larger.
