Laser hair removal and cancer: outside of rumours and hearsay, there is no connection between these topics.
Permanent laser hair removal is one of the most effective and powerful methods of eliminating unwanted hair.
Let’s delve a little deeper.
Why laser hair removal cannot influence the occurrence of tumours
Permanent laser hair removal treatments cannot cause tumours, as the skin does not absorb the instrument’s wavelength. The light specifically targets the melanin in the hair bulbs, leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. It does not go deeper than the follicle, and the internal organs are not affected.
Relying on qualified personnel is, of course, the best way to ensure your safety: our specialised practitioners are constantly trained and committed to the safest procedures. They always take care to ask each customer about:
- any health issues;
- potential pregnancy;
- medications;
- etc.
To date, scientific studies have shown no correlation between the occurrence of tumours or other serious diseases and permanent hair removal.
Permanent laser hair removal: risks and contraindications
Permanent laser hair removal does not normally have any side effects; contraindications typically arise when the treatment is performed by non-specialised staff. Reactions are typically of short duration and minimal concern. For example:
- redness and irritation (which disappear a few hours after treatment);
- burns and blisters (which only occur occasionally, if the staff performing the treatment are not specialised);
- etc.
