Photosensitising drugs
Although permanent hair removal is not painful or harmful to the skin, it requires a mono- or polychromatic light that heats the hair (shaft and root).
If you are taking photosensitising drugs, marks may appear on the skin being treated, creating totally avoidable blemishes.
Before undertaking permanent hair removal, be sure to do your research and find out if any medications you are taking are photosensitising. Additionally, during the free and personalised consultation, our specialised practitioners follow a very specific and thorough protocol: each customer is asked in-depth questions about previous illnesses or surgeries, and about whether they are taking any medications and what kind, in order to avoid any undesirable effects on the skin.
Photosensitising medications can include:
- some diabetes medications that are taken orally;
- certain drugs for heart problems;
- antibiotics;
- anti-rheumatic drugs;
- acne medications;
- antidepressants;
- antihistamines;
